A recent patent granted to Apple by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office showcases an image-capturing watch. Apple’s design would allow users to take photographs, videos and even answer FaceTime calls from the Apple Watch.
The patent proposes two wide-angle cameras which would be mounted on the band of the smartwatch. They would be capable of tracking objects (such as the wearer’s face) and automatically cropping subject matter.
The use of two cameras would also allow for the image angle to be corrected, so as to prevent an unflattering view of the wearer’s face during a teleconference.
Although Apple has obtained the patent, only time will tell if the company ends up converting the design into reality.
