As reported by Cision, leading global children’s entertainment company, Spin Master, has announced several landmark decisions related to IP protection in China.
Among its victories were several patent lawsuits against local counterfeiters in China, who were found to have produced fake, hazardous toy merchandise resembling Spin Master’s popular PAW Patrol cartoon series.
The cases may suggest that Chinese courts are willing to protect the IP rights of multinational companies and to take serious action against IP infringers, with judgments ranging from millions of dollars in monetary penalties, to criminal sentences resulting in imprisonment.
