No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Bethenny Frankel Sued for Copyright Infringement

August 23, 2022

--

As reported by Page Six, Bethenny Frankel is being sued for copyright infringement. In recent years, the Skinnygirl creator and Real Housewives of New York Star, Frankel, has focused her efforts on her BStrong Foundation, which provides emergency assistance to people in crisis.

In May 2018, to highlight the humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico, Frankel shared a photo of the aftermath of Hurricane Maria taken by Marcus Santos. The photographer reportedly argues that Frankel shared the photo to her millions of followers without his permission.

Santos is claiming that the photo in question was already registered with the US Copyright Office by the time Frankel posted it to her Instagram account in May of 2018. Further, he claims that Frankel did not obtain permission or licensing to use the photo.
